New Client System Requirements

The new version of Live Investor is being re-developed from the ground up. This is a very significant endeavor for us since the existing Java client has parts that are literally years old.

We've been working hard to get this done and we're hoping for a late summer 09 release.

Our new system uses the Microsoft .Net Framework rather than Java.  As such it cannot run on mac unless you are running Windows on your mac with either Bootcamp, Parallels Desktop, VM Ware, or Virtual Box.  All the systems mentioned allow you to run Windows on your Mac and Live Investor 2009 has been tested with Parallels and works very well under these conditions.  Please see this article for an explaintion of our decision in this area.

Any computer that can run Windows XP or later should be able to run Live Investor 2009. You must have the Microsoft .Net Framework Version 3.5 SP1 Installed on your computer. The chart system can use quite a bit of memory when you run many charts at once, so if this is how you plan to use Live Investor, we suggest as much memory as possible for your computer.

Generally you need.

Windows XP SP 3
512 MB Ram (at least)
Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 or higher (Look in your Control Panel under Add Remove Programs).  If you use Vista, you have this already.

Please note that since Live Inve
stor 2009 is still under active development we do not yet have completely accurate system requirements. We can tell you that the platform is regularly run and tested on a machine with the specifications noted above and it's working well so far. We feel at this time that we have quoted reasonable requirements and quite honestly, any computer less than 2 years old will likely exceed this anyway.
