Some users have reported unusual viewing problems with charts in the Java client. This was caused by tme changes not being applied to our data center's servers. We are sorry for this. Normal function should resume today and on-ward. |
|
The Beta Program is now openThe preview client will have all the functions of the current client (but will not have charts in this build) We have - The Live feed
- The New Journal
- Portfolio Management
- Market Watch (gainers and decliners)
- News ticker *new*
- Alerts
We are looking for people to review the system and provide feedback on: - The appearance and performance of the screens (this is called the User Interface)
- The quality of the data feed (speed, accuracy of the data)
- The performance of the new system (login time, data refresh and so on)
In addition, the Journal has been totally re-done. We know most people use it vary sparingly (or not at all) and since it's central to the course, we would like to provide a journal that works for our students and customers. - We need to know how the Journal "feels". The workflow behind it is different from the existing Journal.
- How useful is the notes section?
- We've added live feed to your open positions so when you are in the Journal and looking at your Buy you will be able to see the "Last Trade Price" for that given stock which I am hoping assists you in making your Sell decision (without the need to flip between windows)
People who are testers should be fairly computer literate and have basic skills in Windows XP or Vista. If you are familiar with things like "Windows Update", know how to install and remove software and have a good comfort level with your computer then you are probably a good testing candidate. Novice computer users will be invited for the General Beta testing phase in late August 2009. In general, you should know - What your My Documents folder is, how to find it
- How to copy and paste
- How to "get properties" on files
- How to drag and drop
- Know what's in the Control Panel and how to do things like change your screen resolution.
- How to create and use a ZIP file. (this one is important)
- How to take a screenshot (also very helpful)
